Author's Biography

Dr. Nijhawan is a practicing physician. He was raised in Milwaukee, graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1992, and completed a medical residency in Anesthesiology/Critical Care at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Immediately after completing residency he became a practicing anesthesiologist focusing on high-risk cardiac surgery. Simultaneously, he taught junior doctors seeking to become anesthesiologists.

Dr. Nijhawan received a National Institute of Health Scientist Training Grant where he acquired a Master's Degree in clinical research, became a clinical scientist, and designed and conducted medical research. He is also a healthcare leader and was recruited to run and build several medical departments in a variety of hospitals and healthcare systems.

Extensive, focused, yet broad based medical experience provides Dr. Nijhawan with a comprehensive and fundamental understanding of the science of health and healing. He is acutely aware of the problems with complex healthcare delivery systems and has developed a comprehensive approach to overhaul those systems.

Dr. Nijhawan continues to excel in the practice of medicine. He has leveraged decades of practice and research experience to produce practical tools in an effort to empower healthcare consumers. He is a highly regarded speaker, able to distill complex ideas down to fundamental concepts delivered in a friendly, engaging, and understandable manner. Dr. Nijhawan has been happily married for 20 years and has two wonderful children, a cat, and two dogs.
